What is a

Bird Hive?

The Bird Hive takes its inspiration from Plato’s Timaeus monologue written around 350BC in the first person about the wonders of the universe, where Plato’s character Timaeus introduces what the universe is made from. Here the natural philosophy of the Platonic solids are introduced; geometric shapes which represent the elements of nature:

Who are Timmy

and his friend

Beatrice?

These wonderful geometric shapes are still relevant today, and Timaeus is still with us. Known as Timmy a golden yellow bird, who lives with a couple of Bee-type friends in a scruffy but comfortable nest that looks strangely like the Fifth Element.  Timmy gets up to all sorts of amazing adventures with his best friend Beatrice, they love creating all manner of things and are part of the legend of the ‘Birds and the Bees’.  So join Timmy and Beatrice on their adventures, all you need to do is make a secret wish when you see Timmy’s home- and ask him and Beatrice to create whatever you want. The only rule is that what you wish for has to be shared with others.

This has to be the hardest to find!  Enter Ryebank Fields at the junction of Ryebank Road and Longford Road.  Follow the tarmac area round to the right (where it says “Save Ryebank Fields” on the ground).  The birdbox is in one of the first silver birches to your left.  It’s well hidden, so look carefully!

People of

Chorlton

All the people you see on these pages have been absolutely amazing in a time which has been tough for everyone, especially people in the arts. However, these brilliant contributors have given their time for free to create for you a unique experience and hopefully allow you to enjoy and escape for a while from this pain of a pandemic.

All the contributors are now passing the baton over to you in the hope that you will add your support to this local community project and help our chosen local charity in these extremely difficult times. We’ve chosen the Chorlton & Didsbury Foodbank because we don’t think anyone in our community should have to face going hungry. They provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to them in crisis. You can now help this amazing operation by following the link to the donate page.

Thanks so much for your support, we hope you enjoy the hunt and let your friends know about it.
